TEXAS BEST SMOKEHOUSE- I-20, Longview, TX-
This is a chocolate fried pie from Mamaw’s Fried Pies. This is a great pastry. If you’re Cajun and famlier with sweet dough pies, it’s similar to that with a few exceptions. The dough is not sweet, it’s of course, fried. It is filled and I mean filled with an ample amount of chocolate filing. It’s great!
I found it at a great truck stop called Texas Best Smokehouse. You’ll find a huge barbecue buffet, a large selection of deli sandwiches and an abundance of smoked jerky.
TBS is great. The staff is polite and obviously well trained. The restrooms are super clean.
If you’re traveling I-20 around Longview you have to stop here.
They have a chicken salad sandwich made with smoked chicken. This is one of the best chicken salad sandwiches I’ve ever had. It’s a big seller and I can see why. Chicken salad may not seem like a travel food. Trust me, you have to try this. It’s great!!!!
