Texas Best Smokehouse-Tyler, TX – is a must-stop truck stop on I-20. You should experience the food and the people here. These ribs are perfectly done. The meat falls off the bone. There’s a big choice of sides. The hardest thing is making a choice.
The building is beautiful, the bathrooms are super clean and the staff makes the traveler feel like welcome. It’s like you just got home. The people working here care about the customers. When you walk in you’ll be greeted & offered a sample of jerky. I like it when someone says “hello” and try some food.
The employees here are motivated and focused on the customer. Basil, the manager, explains it simply, “They have fun at work.” I could tell that.
I launched a chicken salad tour in July. The chicken salad sandwich here is one of the best in the U.S. It should come as no surprise that these Texans make it with smoked chicken from the barbecue. It’s their most popular sandwich.
I’ve made an unscientific observation. The friendlier the folks at the counter, the better the food. It just seems to work out that way. TBS proves this.
There’s another location in Longview that features a bakery. That’s going to be my first stop when I get back to the Lone Star State.
If you stop, I think you’ll be glad you did.
